Clouds and Light

Faith, as Luther loved to say, is fiducia, trust. It is to stand with the evidence that the God who did what he did and does in all creation, seen and unseen, is to be trusted in all the obscurities and darkness of life...above and beneath the black clouds God is God...

A Jew, awaiting death or persecution in a prison cell in Cologne wrote the following on his prison wall:

I believe in the sun even when it is not shining. I believe in love even when I cannot feel it. I believe in God even when he is silent.
