Risk

In times of profound darkness we can't see, we can't see what's right in front of us...we imagine things that aren't there...we're profoundly disorientated in our un-seeing. Paradoxically however there is much that we accutely see in the darkness...realities and insights we hadn't previously reflected on. This morning I remembered a reflection that my Father has. It names much of my experience in this desert; this profoundly dark place. It names the risks that have become my reality. In darkness there can be a profound freeing.

RISK
To expose feelings is to risk showing your true self To love is to risk not being loved in return. To live is to risk dying. To hope is to risk despair. To try is to risk failure.

The greatest risk in life is to risk nothing
The person who risks nothing does nothing,
Has nothing, is nothing and becomes nothing
Only the person who risks is truly free.
