Paul writes – Today we laid a foundation for the next two days by exploring an understanding of the “true self” and the “false self”; the re-aligned (in Christ in God) self and the disconnected self; the self-autonomous, self-preoccupied, fragile ego. We also lightly touched upon male spirituality, the critical need for Spiritual directors (“Spiritual directors are ‘bridge-builders’ helping people transition from the ‘first-half’ of life to the ‘second half’” – could equate to Fowlers “stages 2 & 3” to stages 4 onwards). We talked a lot about the importance of, and critical practice of contemplation. And, we touched again on scape-goating.
A profoundly hopeful, horizon-enlarging and energising day. Two more to go. So much to sit with, process, and seek greater clarity regarding what it is that he was actually saying.
