Paul writes – I have to agree with Len (in a recent comment) – Richard Rohr is “brilliant” and such a wonderful communicator. Tonight he concluded his address by telling us that “we [had] heard the gospel!” It was electric (pardon the pun if you were there).
Rohr delivered an address titled – Victims and the Place of Scapegoats in Today’s World. It was outstanding. The most I have been energised by this topic since reading James Alison’s brilliant Knowing Jesus several years ago. In fact, if you want as accessible an introduction to the work of Rene Girard as Rohr presented this evening, read Alison’s slim (118-page) book.
