James Alison Interviewed While in Australia

Paul writes – More audio. This time a recent interview with one of my favourite theologians, James Alison. Alison is currently in Australia (26/09/10 to 9/10/10). 

Here’s the blub for the interview:

“Catholic Theologian and openly gay priest James Alison speaks not so much about sexuality, but about ways of understanding theology. He was born into a staunchly Protestant household, but became a convert to Catholicism in his teens. He went on to study at Blackfriars College at the University of Oxford and earned his bachelor's degree and doctorate in theology from the Jesuit Theology Faculty in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Currently he is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is noted for applying the anthropological theory of Rene Girard to theology.

Having lived with the Dominican Order between 1981 and 1995, James works now as an itinerant preacher, lecturer and retreat giver. He is currently a Fellow, and the chair of the Education Committee, of Imitatio. His work also involves academic lectures, undergraduate, postgraduate and professors' seminars, adult catechesis courses, retreats for priests, parish groups, and Catholic and ecumenical gay and lesbian retreats.
